Veterinary Surgery and Anesthesia Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT)

We are seeking a professionally mature, competent, and credentialed Technician in our surgical department with solid technical skills to join our diversified team! In addition to surgery and anesthesia this candidate will also be able to support the wide variety of departments within our hospital; internal medicine, emergency, oncology, cardiology, radiology, and dentistry.

The Surgery & Anesthesia Technician is involved in all aspects of surgical patient care, and contributes to client care and communication. The Surgery and Anesthesia Technician enables veterinarians to be efficient and productive. They provide compassionate, competent patient care and ensure that clients are supported and informed. The Surgery & Anesthesia Technician works under the primary direction of the Department Head, Technician Manager of Surgery, and Technician Lead.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

*Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), OR Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).

*Two years of recent experience in veterinary practice with increasing responsibility.

*Experience with advanced surgical procedures, aseptic technique, instrumentation, and the ability to function as a scrub technician.

*Proficiency with monitoring anesthesia in all ASA levels. Strong knowledge of drug classification and diverse protocols.

*Proficiency with medication administration, IV catheters, blood draws, and laboratory procedures.

*Knowledge of veterinary practices, procedures and terminology with willingness to pursue further education.

*Familiar with federal and state animal health laws, including OSHA and DEA regulations.

*Basic organizational and computer skills.

*Ability to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals.

*Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Preferred:

*Fear Free Certified

*Experience with the software programs, Cornerstone and Instinct.
