Our
Vice President Designate Program provides a unique opportunity for mid-career individuals to enter into Hertz and have the opportunity to compete for Vice President positions. This program is designed to have the candidate rotate through the business while building an outstanding operational foundation in the “Hertz way”. We’re looking for someone with proven leadership skills that is willing to do what it takes to learn Hertz from the ground up.
The program is designed to provide the candidate with a foundation of knowledge and gives them exposure to all the different facets of the Hertz business. Through our 27-week rotational program, you gain exposure to multiple Field and Corporate operations, with the final goal of being considered for a Vice President of field operations position.
The VP Designate will represent all Hertz Global brands to our customers, community leaders, business partners, vendors and government entities. This position is primarily responsible for the successful delivery and oversight of the Hertz product to internal and external customers. This position provides overall leadership to exempt and non-exempt employees with responsibility for overall operating performance, customer satisfaction, positive employee culture, safety, service, budgets, and vendor relations. The VP Designate is responsible to have in-depth knowledge of operations, management, logistics, technology and financial disciplines. The leader must have a proven track record for decisive actions backed by analytical thinking, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance. This leader will deliver results through leadership, direction, alignment and motivation.

- Complete the VP Designate Program with core rotations; many rotations will require travel to another location outside of your home location.
- Become competent in learning the various staff functions, including Operations (both Frontline and Back of House), Management viewpoints, and company policies and practices affecting each phase of the business.
- Meet performance goals and objectives set by Senior VP NA RAC & HLE Ops and/or Zone Vice President.
- Report on progress of goals and objectives.
- Maintain monthly meetings with assigned Mentor.
- Effectively communicate the strategic mission of all projects supporting the advancement of the organization.
- Support building, managing and developing cross-functional talent effectively within the Organization in order to foster a high performing culture and holds all zone management accountable for the effective management of their teams.
- Actively engage in effective communication plans focused on building employee engagement in order to achieve business results.
- Create a culture of partnership and open mindedness at all levels through effective collaboration across the organization.
- Generate innovative ideas and solutions to problems and constantly strives to improve business results and stay ahead of the competition.
- Champion the integration of COE services across the organization and specifically within the assigned zone.
- Proactively work to evolve and improve decision making techniques while considering related operational adjustments that could result in maximum performance.
- Follow established Zone-specific performance standards/goals and ensure execution.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent).
Professional Experience:
- 8 + Years previous management experience in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- 5 - 8 Years prior experience as a General Manager or Head Operations Manager (senior management role).
- Experience in car rental, hospitality, retail or tourism is a plus.
- Results-orientation with demonstrated history of success.
- Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate teams as well as identify and grow talent.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Senior leaders and manage large, dispersed and diverse workgroups.
