We are in a period of tremendous growth with several large-scale projects in the pipeline. We are currently looking for an experienced and seasoned project executive to take the lead across our operations department, which comprises the largest employee group in the company and encompasses Project Teams, Quality, Lean Innovation and Safety on self-perform and sub-contracted projects. The right candidate for the role must have a demonstrated depth of experience in EPC project management in the construction industry, preferably with experience in solar renewables. Of equal or greater importance, the right candidate must be known for his/her strong leadership skills and has demonstrated the ability to engage and develop others into strong leaders.
SPAN OF CONTROL
Reports to: Executive Leadership
Supervisory Responsibilities: Approximately 3-5 Director-level direct reports who each have anywhere from 3-8 direct reports; indirect accountability for all sub-contracted personnel
Budgetary Responsibility: +/- $500M
KEY ATTRIBUTES
- Financial Management: Directs operations to meet budget and other overall financial goals. Directs and tracks the office’s budget and specific financial goals. Responsible for monthly cost report process, reporting forecast accuracy and leading all Change Order and owner issues to closure with each individual Project Director. Responsible for meeting financial objectives for all construction projects, be knowledgeable of Self-Perform projects and what financial issues and risks come with these sorts of projects.
- Staff Development/Management: Oversees and directs all personnel within the projects team. Develops performance goals for the projects team and supports direct reports in establishing aligned goals for their teams. Encourages, motivates, and leads a high-performance workforce. Assists in attracting and retaining key talent needed to obtain objectives. Develops future leaders.
- Strategic Leadership/Execution: Assists in developing and implementing corporate and office strategic plans. Implements overall goals and objectives for the projects team. Involved in the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies, business development and marketing strategies. Involved in short-term and long-term planning of office to support strategic business goals of the company.
- Values and Ethical Standards Management: Represents and acts as the company’s ethical base of values, culture and philosophy. Demonstrates strong commitment to the Core Principles and holds others accountable to them as well.
- Project Management: Oversees the full team that is responsible for meeting all the objectives on each Self-Perform and Subcontracted construction project undertaken by the company; has the ultimate responsibly for the success of each project including all financials, schedules, production and productivity, Quality and Safety
- Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of the full cycle of the EPC construction process. This will include a strong knowledge of estimating, design, project planning, labor reporting, equipment forecasting and management, various scheduling platforms, change order processes, etc.
- Operations Management/Implementation: Works with the Executive Leadership team regarding critical operational issues, policy and procedures that are aligned with the overall strategic plan of the organization. Enhances and/or develops and enforces policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company.
- Strong Safety & Quality Focus: Demonstrates a commitment to the Core Principles to always do our best, leave places better than we found them, and to intentionally develop our people and relationships all of which drive outstanding safety performance, value-added solutions, quality workmanship, and environmental stewardship.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar degree program
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the construction industry and PMI project management acumen required
- PMP certification, ability to train to PMI is a plus to this role
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in management and/or leadership positions; demonstrating progressive responsibility required
- Experience in Solar EPC and renewables is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Demonstrated exceptional communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with EPC contracts, as well as commercial/legal negotiation
- Successful track record of managing and reporting P/L
- Experienced reporting into the senior executive team
- Strong knowledge of industry trends
- Minimum 5 years of solar Self-Perform Project execution
- Experience with Lean Innovation Techniques
- Experience with mentoring and training Project Managers, Directors, Field Engineers, Superintendents, etc.
- Strong Knowledge Scheduling, Financial forecasting, Design and Estimating processes.
