This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity with the City of Wilmington.

Typical Tasks

Attend the Coaches Meeting, respect and care for the league’s equipment, facilities, and fields. Inform the Coordinator if equipment is lost or stolen or a facility or field is damaged.

Contact each child on his/her roster on the dates prescribed. Hold a team meeting to open communications with the parents, supply a team roster, request assistance with coaching and recruit a team parent.

Act as the liaison between the league and the families by providing frequent communication about games and practices. Remain after practice until all players have been claimed. Advise parents as soon as possible in advance of canceled practices and/or games.

Learn, teach, and abide by the basic rules of the game. Do not attempt to undermine the overall goal of the program by finding loopholes or testing the limits of the program. This is behavior that is not acceptable from a role model or mentor/coach.

Encourage sportsmanship by all team members and their parents. Encourage and support other teams' players as they would want other coaches to encourage their players.

Note: Criminal history checks are required to volunteer with the City of Wilmington.
