Job description

Olympia Food Industries is looking to hire a Warehouse Material Handler & Driver for the warehouse docks & order deliveries. This is an 8-hour shift running from 7:00am to 4:00pm, regularly from Monday to Friday. with a 1-hour break. This position’s starting pay is $18.00 an hour. Raises may be given annually after a positive performance review. Bilingual comprehension between English & Spanish is strongly desired, though not required.

Summary

The primary focus of the Warehouse Material Handler & Driver is the safe & accurate movement within & between warehouse locations. The secondary focus is to fill in for route drivers when needed

Skills & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Able to work overtime and irregular hours when necessary.
  • Arithmetic & Numbers knowledge & understanding.
  • Computer knowledge & experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge & experience with material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge & experience driving Reach trucks.
  • Knowledge & experience with a forklift.
  • Knowledge and experience with a pallet jack, both manual & automated.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be organized.
  • Able to see clearly, both near & far, with or without the assistance of glasses.
  • Able to use hands and fingers to use and feel objects, tools, controls, and product.
  • Able to reach with hands and arms.
  • Able to comfortably balance, climb, crouch, pull, and push.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Clear oral & legible written communication skills in English strongly required.
  • Appropriate interpersonal interactions to work effectively & efficiently with co-workers to meet mutual goals.
  • Adaptive to disruptive circumstances regarding either productivity or personnel.
  • Able to maintain a positive work environment.


Tasks & Duties

  • Directly support activities of the department & productivity.
  • Directly assist training & support the crew members of the department.
  • Efficiently monitor & utilize crew members.
  • Support crew & operations of other departments if & when possible.
  • Supervise pickers & material handlers daily.
  • Supervise safe dock traffic.
  • Supervise carrier appointments.
  • Supervise & preform regular inventory counts.
  • Report any unsafe or hazardous work conditions.
  • Report any unsafe or malicious behavior.
  • Preform weight checks.
  • Preform Lockout & Tagout as required.
  • Preform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness regarding product & personnel safety & sanitation.
  • Maintain a clean and clear work area.
  • Maintain FIFO at all times.
  • Ensure food safety & sanitation conditions, guidelines & practices are always being met by all crew members.
  • Ensure that truck trailers are tempered properly & record their temperature.
  • Ensure product amount is counted accurately according to pick sheet.
  • Ensure proper lot numbers are picked.
  • Ensure proper lot numbers are recorded.
  • Ensure pallets are loaded into the correct truck trailer.
  • Ensure reliable record keeping.
  • Ensure to accuratly close out an order properly before closing & sending drivers on their way. This is strongly required
  • Enforce all Olympia Food’s GMPs, rules, & regulations
  • Enforce HACCP & SQF guidelines.
  • Document all counts absolutely accurately.
  • Document all lots absolutely accurately.
  • Complete all paperwork & forms in a punctual & timely manner.
  • Communicate with Maintenance when there is mechanical concern.
  • Communicate with Quality Assurance when ingredients are torn and spilled for proper follow up.
  • Communicate with Sanitation when ingredients are torn and spilled for proper cleanup.

Work Environment

  • Temperature of the production room is 40°. Dress appropriately.
  • There are variable temperatures throughout the facility ranging from -10°F to 40°F.
  • This job is physical. Crew members need to frequently bend, lift, push, pull, walk, grasp, & reach for items.
  • Rolls involve extensive standing and stationary work, climbing stairs & ladders, lifting, & squatting.
  • Crew members work near moving mechanical parts.
  • This job is performed in a generally clean environment.
  • Maintenance & Quality Assurance departments rank above Production, Sanitation, & Warehousing departments. It is mandatory to follow the directions of their managers & supervisors.
  • Because we are a food processing facility, with the exceptions of glasses, firmly secure wedding bands, & double clasp medical bracelets, all jewelry and mobile phones are strictly prohibited in every work area. Per industry regulations, Olympia cannot hire anyone with exposed graphed jewelry or exposed permanent piercings.
  • This position requires safety awareness of manufacturing & industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate.
