- Perform required pre-shift safety and maintenance checks of equipment.
- Breakdown and restack product from pallet.
- Product and quantity verification.
- Foster communication and teamwork among staff to ensure accomplishment of operational goals.
- Ensure all shipments meet company quality control standards
- Represent the DC in a professional manner.
- Understand all safety procedures; ensure safe work practices are followed and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Working in both non temperature-controlled and temperature-controlled environments.
- Operate forklift and all other machinery competently and safely.
- Direct product to correct area in warehouse.
- Clear work area of loose wood and plastic. Sweep work area as needed.
- Move product safely using forklift, pallet jack or dock loader. Follow instructions for operating equipment.
- Report faulty equipment, damage to racks, and other safety hazards to supervisor.
- Inventory product as needed. Label, sort, wrap and tie product.
- Timely and accurately expedite daily shipments to Company standards as directed.
- Accurately ‘picking’ and knowledge of paint and sundry products.
- Exercise proper picking & stock rotation standards and practices.
- Operate use of scanner guns to accurately pick shipments.
- Proficiently stock and remove overstock as directed.
- Utilize and understand procedures for shipping with UPS and other freight carriers.
- Complete proper procedures to complete bills of lading when required.
- Prior warehouse training or experience is preferred but not required.
- Initiative to work with minimal instruction and direction.
- Possess a sense of urgency required to work in a deadline driven environment.
- Certified Forklift Operator (Standard).
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Fluent in reading and writing English words and numbers at a 12th grade level. Ability to read and compare letters/numbers.
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Suitable verbal communication (in person), including fully conversant (speaking & listening).
- Schedule to remain flexible to work on various shifts, as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Timely and predictable attendance is a requirement of this position, i.e. must be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.
- Machinery, tools and equipment used: scanning equipment, box knife, calculator, pallet jack, step ladder, forklift, trash compactor, broom/mop, hand truck, shrink wrapper, buckets, cans, and hand tools.
- Sorting and organizing paperwork.
- Moderate supervision required.
Physical Requirements: Full-physical mobility is required to the performance of this position. Including: Standing (occasional); Walking (constant) on concrete; Lifting and Carrying (frequent) 0-80 lbs. at waist level, paint and sundries; Push/Pull (occasional) up to 100 lbs. of force, pallet jack, hand truck, sliding boxes, Operating Controls (often) forklift, shrink wrapper Bend/stoop/crouch/kneel (frequent) under racks to retrieve paint, sundries, pallets; Reaching (often-frequent), floor to waist, at waist and shoulder level, fully extended; Handle/grasp (constant) all materials and tools
