Job Description

The successful candidate will safely and efficiently operate a water treatment facility at a remote industrial mining location.

The assignment is a 5-6-month contract position beginning in mid-April or early May and ending around September or October. The position will operate on a 3 weeks (23 days) on shift and 3 weeks (19 days) off shift basis. Shifts will be at least 12 hours. The project location is on a remote mine site in Alaska. Lodging and meals will be provided at the camp that services the mine. Linkan Engineering will reimburse travel expenses to and from the project location.

The system includes microfiltration equipment. Linkan will provide Worker's Compensation insurance and technical oversight and support from our engineering support office. Linkan will provide tools and equipment for the job.

Zero tolerance for drug and alcohol problems.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

  • Monitor differential pressures, turbidity and water flows (input/outputs), make calculations and adjustments to maintain plant operation.
  • Monitor fuel/oil levels in a generator.
  • Handle bulk chemicals in a safe and professional manner.
  • Check system components and equipment.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Perform Lock-out/Tag-out procedures to facilitate maintenance.
  • Safely and competently operate powered equipment and hand tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide accurate and on-time reporting to Linkan Engineering representatives.
  • Interface with HMI programs to control plant systems.
  • Perform field tests to ensure compliance with discharge permits.
  • Prepare water samples for laboratory testing.
  • Operate vehicles safely around large mining equipment.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of industrial experience required
  • Experience in a related position and environment with knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices of water/wastewater treatment required
  • Experience working safely with chemicals required
  • Experience working with microfiltration preferred
  • Experience in working with high pressure lines and pumps preferred
  • Intermediate level water/wastewater treatment certificates preferred
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this job
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations required
  • Ability to accomplish strenuous physical labor under all weather conditions required
  • Pass all pre-employment contract requirements, which include but are not limited to drug test and background check. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for paying for travel to a testing facility. Required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Proven safety and attendance record required
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
  • Ability to drive an all-terrain forklift required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
