Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Waterfront Coordinator is responsible for the safe operation and instruction of all waterfront activities in accordance with camp policies. The Waterfront Coordinator supervises 1) staff at the waterfront, 2) General (G) Swim, 3) water related clinics, 4) Buddy Board, 5) swim tests, and 6) boating activities. The Waterfront Coordinator will also provide the proper planning, execution and evaluation of the day-to-day programmatic and logistical operations of the summer camp programs for Akron Rotary Camp.

Essential Functions:
1. Participate in pre-camp training and planning process.
2. Responsibility for the safety and well-being of all campers and staff throughout the camp program.
3. Abide by all Akron Rotary Camp and Akron YMCA Policies and Procedures, as well as standards set forth by the American Camp Association (ACA) or other camp governing bodies.
4. Supervision of campers and Counselors/Lifeguards during all water activities and specialty programs.
5. Evaluation of Lifeguards in a constructive way, giving and listening to any feedback.
6. Establishes and implements methods of staff motivation during the summer months.
7. Maintain proper boat upkeep, and assist in boating activites
8. Assist peers with various responsibilities.
9. Effectively running in-services with all Lifeguards weekly.
10. When needed, gives Lifeguards breaks in their day to insure healthy staff for the duration of the summer.
11. Coordinates all emergency drills at the waterfront, including 2 practice drills during the summer.
12. Maintain all paperwork pertinent to the job.
13. Actively participates in camp wide activities when the waterfront is closed.
14. Maintains all waterfront equipment and ensures all equipment is in working order.
15. Any other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.

It should be understood that this Job Description has been developed as an outline for basic responsibility. Additional duties may be assigned by the Summer Camp Director from time to time as deemed appropriate and/or necessary.

• *Qualifications:

• The Waterfront Director must be a minimum of 18 years of age. They must bring to this position an educational background suited to the requirements of the position, as well as an understanding and value orientation to the Christian principles of the Akron Area YMCA and Akron Rotary Camp. The Waterfront Coordinator must be ambitious with outstanding organizational, human relations, and programming skills.

• Current Lifeguarding from the American Red Cross or equivalent certifying body (Or willing to get certified/re-certified)

• Child & Adult First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer

• AED & Oxygen administration certification

Physical Demands:
§ This position would require the ability to listen to others, observe others actions, read text and information, comprehend instructions and manuals, physical ability to move about the camp property in various environmental conditions.
Performance Objectives:.

• In order to guide Rotary Camp to becoming a premier camp, the Waterfront Coordinator must possess superb skills in coordinating the proper planning, execution and documentation of summer camp programs.
