Job description
Digital Wave seeks an experienced web developer to play a key role on a variety of development projects. In this role, you will work as part of a cross-functional team consisting of designers, content strategists, consultants, and project managers, and will work under the oversight of a lead developer. The successful candidate will have proven experience implementing web site solutions using either open-source or proprietary Web Content Management Systems which are in compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, as well as the ability to build front end interfaces using responsive frameworks and atomic design solutions, such as Bootstrap 5 and Fractal. Broad experience with more than one solution is preferable, but demonstrable experience producing quality WordPress implementations is very useful.
Employment structure and location is negotiable, contingent on experience level and fit. Digital Wave is open to hiring in a full-time, part-time, contract, or contract-to-hire arrangement. Office locations are in Huntingdon Valley, PA and Chesapeake, VA, with several employees working in remote positions.
Ideal candidate will exhibit:
- 5+ years of hands-on front end and WCMS (particularly WordPress) development experience
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery
- Proficient in build systems such as webpack and gulp
- Proficient in the deployment, maintenance, administration of WordPress sites and modules
- Experience with server-side templating engines (JSP, PHP, ASP.NET)
- Experience with optimizing SEO, security, and ADA 508 compliance
- Experience working with a team of developers with a shared GIT repository
- Ability to accurately estimate work and complete high-quality deliverables within estimated hours and timeframes
- Familiarity with agile development approaches
- Flexibility to adapt to and embrace shifting web technologies
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to team members and clients
Other responsibilities:
- Collaborating with team members for quality assurance and user acceptance testing, and address fixes and bugs as necessary
- Collaborating with team members in an agile environment, continually defining requirements, adapting to shifting goals, and iterating based on regular testing
- Communicating with clients, including transparency into development environments during the course of a project
- Proactively alerting project managers when progress tracks above or below expectations
- Attending regular internal and client meetings, potentially including company-wide meetings, regular project stand-ups, and code reviews
- Following operational processes for tasking, time tracking, and regular communication with team members
