USEMCO is seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to manufacture a wide variety of parts using fabricating equipment such as a welding lathe, drill press, and welder. The WEM Department specializes in custom fabrication and machining for various customers. Employees are exposed to difficult projects everyday and work together to complete the task with confidence. WEM Department has a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere where orders can come in the morning and could typically be delivered the same day.

Position: Welder/Fabricator

1st Shift/Full-Time: 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Monday - Friday; Flexible when employees need time off.

Competitive Starting Pay: $19.00 - $22.00/hr. to start, BOE.

Working Conditions: Indoors, No travel

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate a variety of fabricating equipment (welding lathe, drill press, welder etc.) to produce component parts. Assemble component parts consistent with product blueprints.
  • Work from assembly drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Perform fabricating and production welding on a variety of weldments, requiring a good knowledge of welding technology and the properties of steel.
  • Select welding procedures best suited for type of work and materials involved and vary techniques to ensure that all welds display proper size, penetration, fusion, strength, and appearance.
  • Set-up and operate production machinery.
  • Perform general maintenance of fabricating equipment.
Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires education generally equivalent to 4 years of high school and 1-year related experience in fabricating operations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Reading and comprehending simple instructions and written materials relating to fabrication set up and operation and safety procedures.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing and using simple shop mathematics to set up and perform fabrication work.
  • Commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with simple problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • You must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints and the ability to operate fabricating equipment such as hand tools, shears, hoists, saws, grinders, hand benders, drills, and punches.
