Supplemental Information

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life.
Assist Supervisor and Biologists in wildlife research, land stewardship, and habitat management practices on Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge. This includes, but is not limited to capture/handling of research project species, field data collection, computer data entry, planting of food plots for wildlife by disking, fertilizing, and seeding, and use of prescribed fire to enhance vegetation. Assist with the control of nuisance animals and noxious vegetation. Although this person will primarily assist and be supervised by research biologists, the successful applicant will also monitor and manipulate water levels and salinities using water-control structures and pumps to meet water management criteria under instructions from biologists. This person must also assist with maintenance of levee systems, collection of environmental data, banding and telemetry projects, collection of harvest data on various species, wildlife disease response, and the maintenance of facilities and equipment when necessary.
The Wildlife and Fisheries Technician position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and is advertised to be filled as a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A, B, or C.
