This is a position specific recruitment . The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) position/function only. All interested persons will need to re-apply for any future recruitment conducted for this classification.

Nature of Work: The Work Injury Case Officer is responsible for providing oversight, tracking and coordination of MDTA work injury and workers compensation cases and is located in the Office of Environment, Safety and Risk Management. The individual will coordinate and track modified duty assignments and ensure all employee injury reports and documentation are routinely, accurately, and timely entered in the MDTA's online injury reporting and recordkeeping system. The individual will routinely communicate employee injury status among MDTA Divisions.

Additionally, this position will assist in facility safety inspections. The incumbent will drive to MDTA facilities to support Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Compliance Officers with tasks related to inspecting machinery, equipment, hazardous conditions, and working conditions to ensure compliance with federal and state safety, fire and occupational health regulations.

This position will be supervised by the Chief of Risk Management or other designated officials. Employees may be required to work evenings or weekends and may be subject to call-in during non-working hours in response to emergency situations such as accident investigations. The work may be performed outdoors under varying weather conditions and in proximity to motorized, heavy equipment and high-speed traffic; work also may be conducted in facilities, public buildings and grounds complexes, manufacturing plants, hazardous waste disposal sites and machinery or mechanical repair shops. The employee may be exposed to a variety of physical hazards, such as toxic materials and fumes, asbestos or lead particles, flammable, or combustible agents. The work may require the use of safety equipment such as eye protection, hardhats, and other personal protective equipment. The current vacancy is in Baltimore, MD.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in safety inspections, accident investigations, safety training or related field.

Licenses & Certifications

1. Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees will be required to possess and maintain a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland as a condition of employment. Applicants must list the license number and date of expiration on the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification may be required to obtain certificates of qualification as a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instructor and as a First Aid Instructor from a recognized authority such as the American Red Cross.
