Performs accounting duties, including journal entries, reporting, analysis and audit/reconciliation of accounts. Maintains a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant reports and financial statements.

Essential Functions:
- Manage one or more finance and accounting functions.
- Recommend policies and procedures to effectively and efficiently administer finance and accounting programs.
- Maintain general account ledgers and handle a variety of funds.
- Reviews, investigates and corrects errors in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Compile and enter data, prepare reports, and develop recommendations for policies, procedures, or control systems.
- Provide contract management support.
- Work with leadership in planning, coordination, and implementation of annual budget.
- Assist with audit and oversight of financial statements, departmental commitments, and processing deadlines.
- Prepare and review expense vouchers, invoices, purchase requisitions or other transactions in compliance with approved budgets and procedures.
- Determine proper handling of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Perform duties related to payroll, personnel actions or similar procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Education, Knowledge, Experience & Certification/License:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- An energetic, well-grounded, innovative, service-oriented personality and calculated risk taker with a bias for action, a record of setting and surpassing objectives, and the proven “can do” attitude and drive to execute strategies and produce results beyond expectations.
- Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
- Account balancing and reconciling skills.
- Ability to analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with budget, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
- Competencies include, but are not limited to, accuracy and attention to detail, financial and accounting systems, financial reporting, problem solving, business math, accounting, teamwork, and managing expenses and finances.
Job Family Levels:
- Level I:
o Under immediate supervision, performs standard tasks using established methods, principles, concepts and procedures related to a specialized field. Judgments are made on routine matters of relatively small impact.
o Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.
o Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA.
o No previous work experience required.
- Level II:
o Under close supervision, performs varied duties and assignments involving some judgment. Resolves routine questions or problems, referring only complex issues to higher level. Some evaluation, originality and ingenuity required.
o Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization, with awareness of related fields.
o Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA
o 2 years experience in accounting services.
- Level III:
o Under minimal supervision, performs complex assignments and fulfills broad responsibilities where required outcomes are defined, but methods and procedures may vary based on professional judgment or precedent. Considerable latitude for unreviewed action. Confers with supervisor on unusual matters. Coordinates the work of others on projects and may assign work to and assist less experienced professionals or support staff. May act in an advisory capacity to managers or faculty.
o Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments. Also possesses knowledge of related fields and areas of operation which affect, or are affected by, own area.
o Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a Degree plus a CPA
o 4 years experience at the preceding level or equivalent.
