Responsible for accurate accounting and timely closing of the books and records for Dart Container and affiliates
Day-to-Day Role:
- Manage work prepared and performed by accounting department staff such as transaction processing, journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules and detailed reports
- Coordinate the timely month-end and year-end close of the general ledger and related external audits
- Prepare and review month-end, year-end and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for management and external business partners
- Create accurate and concise verbal and written communications to internal departments and external business partners about accounting-related information
- Maintain secure control of accounting-related documentation; invoices, checks, journal entries, financial statements
- Perform and interpret data analytics to assist in business decisions
- Understand how the other functional areas (including Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Human Capital Management and Supply Chain Management) impact finance in the current ERP system and lead efforts to ensure cross functionality is achieved
- Lead and coordinate special projects individually or as part of a cross-functional team, ensuring timely decision making and completion
- Maintain accurate job aids for all duties assigned
- Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of staff
- Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies
- Make recommendations regarding staffing decisions
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting or related field of study and six (6) years of accounting experience with a focus in manufacturing industry accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Requires one (1) of the following:
o Equivalent progressive Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) accounting experience with a focus in manufacturing
- Demonstrated strong managerial and leadership experience required
- Ability to research, comprehend and account for complex business transactions, in compliance with GAAP as necessary for each jurisdiction
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills to include the ability to create spreadsheets (e.g., formulas such as V-lookup, graphs, pivot tables)
- Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal customers
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
- Proven analytical problem solver
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop new ideas and solutions
- Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
- Works well in a team environment, working towards the common goal of the department as a whole
- Knowledge of query, reporting and data analysis tools
- Additional work hours during critical times of the year including weekends and evenings
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- SAP experience
- Public accounting experience
