Summary Responsible for the day-to-day activities ensuring all items are handled accurately and processed in a timely and secure manner; provides information and assistance in relation to ACH services with the highest level of professionalism by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
ACH Specialist I
  • Assists customers, and other bank employees with ACH inquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ensures quality of scanned documents.
  • Familiar with ACH Tracker, IBS Insight, Cold Research, Centrix, BEB, and DocuTreev.
  • Processes Death Notification Reports and creates returns when necessary.
  • Process ACH Return Reject Reports and make entries when necessary.
  • Tracks daily incoming ACH Fed totals.
  • Monitors ACH email box.
  • Seeks approval and processes ACH temporary increase requests.
  • Processes suspended ACH files.
  • Processes ACH Disputes in dispute processing system.
  • Processes FIS ACH Transaction Monitoring timely for fraud protection.
  • Processes new setups, changes, and deletions for ACH Originators received by Treasury Management.
  • Processes ACH Positive Pay setups or changes received by Treasury Management.
  • Processes originated ACH rejected transactions.
  • Processes originated ACH reversal or file deletion requests.
  • Processes ACH EDI setups received by Treasury Management.
ACH Specialist II
  • Capable of performing all essential ACH Specialist I duties efficiently.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining ACH Best Practices and policies.
  • Identifies and recommends new methods and procedural enhancements to make daily operations in the area more efficient.
  • Assists with testing and implementation of system updates or enhancements.
  • Obtains an AAP ACH Certification.
  • Stays up to date on NACHA rules and regulations by attending ACH Bootcamp training. Communicates this information to other departments as necessary.
  • Assists ACH Operations Officer with duties such as annual ACH originator reviews, identifying potential credit risk with ACH origination, establishing ACH file limits, and ACH disaster recovery procedures.
  • Communicates any ACH system issues to FIS to resolve the issue in a timely manner.
  • Assists with and serves as backup for Daily ACH Reconciliation.
  • Assists with and serves as backup Prefund Sweep DDA Reconciliation.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two to three years banking or related experience. Knowledge of NACHA rules and regulations helpful.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of computer applications such as the Internet, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and banking software. Ability to use basic office machines including 10-key, computer keyboard, telephone, fax machine and copy machine.
Customer Service Skills
Ability and judgment to interact and communicate appropriately with other employees, customers and supervisor. Ability to serve customers, both internal and external, (community/public) in a manner that will reflect superior customer relations and enhance the overall marketing effort of Community Trust.
