Part-Time Independent Living Activity Assistant- Resident Services

20 hours per week, Weekends and Evenings Required

This is a great opportunity for someone creative and outgoing to bring fun and educational events to our beautiful community! You would be responsible assisting with the development, organization, implementation, and oversight of activities for our independent residents.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our staff! This role will support the programs, events, and services we provide our residents. Some of the exciting events this team member will be part of planning and executing include musical performances, trips to the Richmond Symphony and local theatres, dinners off campus, museum trips, shopping trips, day drips to surrounding areas such as Williamsburg, and much more! We are looking for someone who is a team player, dependable, organized, and is passionate about bringing joy and purpose to the lives of our residents.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

  • Under the direction of the Independent Living Program Manager. The Program Assistant is responsible for the organization, implementation, supervision of residents in activities for Independent Living.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the confidentiality of all resident-related information at all times (HIPAA)
  • Observe and understands the residents’ rights and responsibilities at all times
  • Chaperone outings to plays, concerts, museums, meals, etc. This will include evening and weekend events.
  • Share responsibility of covering in house programs, duties to include setting up the A/V system, greet speakers, prepare handouts. This will include weekend and evening events.
  • Assist with other resident led clubs/groups.
  • Assist Activities Manager with calendar of events by bringing ideas for in house programming and outings that are appropriate for the population.
  • Assist with the creation of special events and help facilitate the event. Decorating for special events and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with geriatric population preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Computer skills are required
  • Current Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Clean driving record
  • Drives 5-12 passenger bus/van for outings and trips as needed.
  • Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information.
  • Attend in services as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in a prompt and cooperative fashion.
  • Follows all personnel policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and subsequent publications and notices (including policies on breaks, meal periods, and PTO time).
