We are looking for a temp to perm legal assistant to help out our paralegals.

Requirements/Preferences:
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 6 months year of recent experience in a personal injury firm. If no prior PI experience, candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in an office setting.
  • Strong computer skills are essential as we are mostly paperless. Chrome, Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel, Adobe Pro, and Stamps.com are essential.
  • We use Practice Master for case management, so experience with that software is great but not required. Any prior case management experience is a plus (Needles, FileVine, etc)
  • This person needs to have a positive attitude and be able to jump in with a hard-working team that has been together for 5 years. We are growing and ready to bring in new team members.
  • The candidate should know that this is not a paralegal/case manager role. He/she will have very little interaction with the attorney, and most of the tasks assigned will come from the case managers/paralegals. However, the opportunity for promotion to paralegal/case manager may arise as we continue to grow.
  • Bilingual is a plus but not a requirement.

About the role:
This person would be assisting 3 senior paralegals/case managers. Direct supervisor would be me, the Operations Director.

Tasks would include:
  • Obtaining police reports and open records request items such as body cam, citations, etc.
  • Opening claims (auto and health insurance/Medicare)
  • Medical reduction requests/follow up
  • Burning demand CDs/mailing them out
  • Mailing letters of rep to insurance companies
  • Preparing settlement folders
  • Limited tasks (only as needed, not primary responsibility)
  • Medical records follow-up – we already have a medical records clerk so this candidate would not have to do that unless records clerk was out of the office/severely behind
  • Intakes – candidate would be trained on how to do this but would not be required to do intakes on a regular basis.
  • Limited (if any) contact with clients
  • This will be an onsite hourly position.
  • Hours are 8 am to 5 pm with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Pay will be TBD based on experience between $20-$24. Overtime is offered at a 1.5 rate with up to 5 hours per week allowed without approval.
