ABOUT THE RIVER CLUB: The River Club is New York City's Premier Family Club. Our Clubhouse boasts 2 tennis courts, 3 squash courts (including an interactive squash court, 1 platform tennis court, 2 golf simulators, a pool, and fitness center. In addition The River Club offers several dining venues, overnight rooms, private event spaces, and a beautiful garden patio area- all with beautiful views of the East River.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Aquatics Director oversees the maintenance and day-to-day operation of our aquatic facility. Responsibilities include:
HEALTH & SAFETY: Ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained; Ensures facility is compliant with NYDOH requirements and current on all necessary certifications required for operation.
MAINTENANCE: Responsible for scheduling and coordinating weekly services with CPO regarding chemical levels and any services that may need to be performed (i.e repairs). Upkeep and cleanliness of the pool facility.
STAFF TRAINING: Responsible for training employees in the hospitality services and conducting in-service lifeguard training, CPR & first aid training, and swim instruction training on a regular basis.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Payroll, billing, staff scheduling, new hires for lifeguard, swim instructor. Communicating with members via email/phone regarding lessons, programs, events, and any general inquiries.
LESSON PLANNING/SCHEDULING: Responsible for matching and scheduling participants to an appropriate instructor for optimal results and experience. Establishing and curating lesson format by skill levels and age.
HEAD SWIM INSTRUCTOR: Responsible for ensuring all other swim instructors are executing proper lessons and conduct appropriate training should there be inconsistencies.
PROGRAM/EVENT PLANNING: Develop new aquatic programs, classes, and events that would enhance the membership experience (parties, water aerobics, etc.). Assist in organizing interdepartmental events (i.e Junior Sports Camp, Junior Awards Night).
VENDORS/SUPPLIES: Responsible for ordering and keeping an inventory of all supplies, swim equipment, staff uniforms, and merchandise. Responsible for communicating with vendors, garnering new business partnerships.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 2+ years related experience as an Aquatics Director or Supervisor.
- 3+ years related experience as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor
- Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have a Lifeguard (American Red Cross) certification
- Must have a Water Safety Instructor (American Red Cross) Certification.
- CPR/AED Certification (possess either: a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, not exceeding one year in duration, in CPR for the Professional Rescuer issued by the American Red Cross (ARC); or a current CPR certificate, not exceeding one year in duration, issued by American Heart Association)
- Lifeguard Instructor (American Red Cross) Certification is a plus.
- CPO (Certified Pool Instructor) Certification is a plus.
