ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
Overview: GrowGeneration is one of the largest retailers of hydroponic products in the United States and is engaged in the business of marketing and distributing horticultural, organics, lighting and hydroponics products, including lighting fixtures, nutrients, seeds and growing media, systems, trays, fans, filters, humidifiers and dehumidifiers, timers, instruments, water pumps, irrigation supplies and hand tools.
Position Reports To: Corporate Controller
Salary: $95K-$110K / DOE
Purpose of Position: To support the company’s financial record-keeping and reporting requirements and ensure compliance with US GAAP, corporate policies and procedures and common ethical practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the monthly and quarterly accounting close procedures
- Manages, leads, and develops a group of accounting professionals
- Assists with implementation of new initiatives and promotes effective change management
- Maintains general ledger and reporting structures to ensure information is accurately tracked, consolidated correctly and properly presented for internal and external reporting purposes
- Maintains and enforces internal controls and assists with External Auditors
- Prepares monthly and quarterly sales and use tax reports and submits filings
- Reviews transactions, account balances and financial reports for reasonableness and accuracy
- Investigates fluctuations and reports on accuracy of balances and transactions
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Strong Knowledge of US GAAP required
- Public Accounting experienced preferred
- CPA or CPA-candidate preferred
- Intercompany experience and ability to navigate multiple systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to update job knowledge and develop relevant skills
- May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
