Capital Tire, Inc. is a family-owned and operated tire distributor throughout Ohio, Michigan and Indiana with 10 different locations. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team in our Ferndale, MI location. The primary responsibility of the AGM will be to assist the GM to ensure the day-to-day business operations run effectively. This position will assist in overseeing, coordinating and performing daily business activities at all levels of the location including operations, warehouse, logistics and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the GM with the day-to-day activities of location employees.
- Provides clear performance expectations to location employees while providing feedback on a regular basis including issuing discipline when/if needed.
- Acts as the site level champion of client management relationships by addressing customer issues including correcting wrong orders, taking calls when needed and collecting past dues. Encourages customers to contact the Customer Service Call Centers for all other concerns and/or issues.
- Manages employees time ensuring staff are on time, drivers are leaving for their daily routes when scheduled, approving daily/weekly timecards, approving time off requests, etc.
- Manages and coordinates daily truck routes to ensure efficient delivery to increase productivity while utilizing company systems such as the GPS system and POS to monitor progress for on-time deliveries, carrier order inquiries and prep for next day orders. Dispatches daily based on customer needs, size of load, distance and driver availability.
- Uses the payroll system schedule templates for scheduled work hours to efficiently manage the entire staff at the given location while coordinating with site managers to ensure proper coverage of staff throughout the work day.
- Assists the sales team with monitoring manufacturer sales programs on a quarterly basis to follow-up with customers to meet the incentives provided from the manufacturer.
- Reviews inventory levels to ensure adequate and accurate inventory by running reports to maintain correct details in the point of sale (POS) system. Counts inventory with location staff on a semi-annual basis with occasional spot checks throughout the year.
- Works with Purchasing Department to confirm the location is fully stocked to meet customers needs. May place orders for unique circumstances when certain situations arise. Coordinates internal transfers on an as needed basis.
- Evaluates fleet/trucks to ensure safe operation through preventative maintenance in a timely and cost-effective manner by scheduling maintenance repairs with vendors.
- Opens and/or closes the facility as needed while coordinating with the Warehouse Operations Coordinator and/or Warehouse Manager to rotate schedules.

- Keyboard skills and knowledge of office machines – fax, printer, copier, etc.
- Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

- Be of excellent moral character, trustworthy and reliable
- Have a sense of fairness and consistency
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Decision-making ability
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations
- Maintains valid driver’s license
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years management experience
OR
- Minimum of 3-5 years management experience (knowledge of tire industry necessary)
