Job description
The Assistant Operations Manager assists the Plant Operations Manager with the overall running of the Warehouse. This Assistant supervises Warehouse workers to ensure orders are completed and shipped timely. This employee also assists the Plant Operations Manager with directly supervising the Drivers and ensuring trucks are loaded properly, and completes the scheduling of routes which are given directly to Drivers, and ensures it is followed. This Assistant Manager directly manages employee overtime and may also approve time cards.
This is a full time position with a typical work shift of 10 hours. Duties in this position are occasionally performed outside.
JOB DUTIES
- The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for making sure trucks are loaded properly, makes schedules, re-routes loads, and re-load trucks that are not properly loaded.
- The Assistant Operations Manager is required to review orders such as Will Calls, customer transfer orders, and stock transfers.
- The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for calling vendors for maintenance and/or repair requirements.
- This employee is required to check supplies for warehouse and purchasing: Ex: chains, gloves, tools, etc.
- The Assistant Operations Manager is required to review Driver's logs, and check for DOT and inspection on drivers.
- This employee is responsible for picking up finished orders for shipping.
- This employee is required for making sure shipping has copies of loading for outgoing material.
- The Assistant Operations Manager is required to monitor employees' flow of work is done/completed.
- On a daily basis, the Assistant Operations Manager monitors overtime.
- The Assistant Operations Manager may be required to check stock / inventory.
- The Assistant Operations Manager may be required to check on Will Calls making sure they are taken care of.
- This employee may be required to make maintenance calls to vendors for repairs of trucks, contracts.
- This employee is required to check for safety requirements for employee safety.
- This employee may be required to handle customer problems (public relations).
- This Assistant Operations Manager may be required to hold meetings for employees on job training and safety.
