Assistant Project Engineer - Aircraft Outfitting in GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:
Gulfstream Completions Engineering is seeking a project engineer to work with our completions M&P team with a focus in scope of definition, technical coordination and schedule development, project progress tracking, process improvement of aircraft interior materials and process development. This position requires project management experiences as well as a basic understanding in materials properties and processing used on aircraft interiors for both production and completed airplane.
Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with materials and process engineers specialized in polymer composites, metallic materials, coatings, exterior paint to coordinate engineering efforts
2. Perform project engineer functions including creation of detailed technical schedule, monitoring of progress, preparation of project status reports, documenting communications and meetings, and reporting project risks
3. Expertise in project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel Macros
4. Organizing and documenting technical meetings with internal and external supplier
5. Work with team to create work instructions and streamline the process
6. Required strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to details

- Responsible for planning, organizing and conducting segments of engineering projects with diversified technical requirements. .
- Defines project work scope, develops statements of work, task descriptions, product plans, budget estimates and manpower requirements.
- Assigns tasks to functional personnel and suppliers for specific projects and provides the necessary project direction to meet schedules and fulfill requirements.
- Provides project management between engineering sections and all related functions including program management, other departments, suppliers, consultants, and customers.
- Anticipates problems with assigned projects (technical, budget, schedule) and recommends appropriate action to prevent their occurrence.
- Effectively reports to management on key project accomplishments, status, issues and budget. .
- Approves project related engineering data to assure compliance with corporate policies and FAA/military requirements as required.
- Works under direct leadership and guidance of a senior-level project engineer. .
- Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements. .
- Maintains a current knowledge of technical developments. .
- The level of skills and abilities appropriate for this grade are detailed in the departments skills/knowledge matrix.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills, teambuilding skills, and the ability to persuade others without creating adversarial relationships.
- Works closely with project team members to resolve problems with assigned projects (technical, budget, schedule).
- Interacts with senior management and key officials of other organizations as required.
- Responsible for building and leading engineering project teams.
