Associate Chief Nursing Officer
The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) works under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and is responsible for clinical oversight of all areas where nursing practice occurs, ensuring that nursing resources are deployed with a 24-hour accountability for the provision of safe, high-quality, clinical care for the patients of VHC Health.
The ACNO will work closely with the other members of the senior management team to assist in directing the administration and advancement of patient care services and utilizes emerging trends, issues, technology, and an understanding of the organization's vision, mission, and goals to direct the strategic planning, organization, leadership, service delivery, performance improvement, and evaluation of nursing/clinical standards of performance.

- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or in a related field required.
- Five years of Nursing Leadership and Hospital experience required.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Compact State Licensure in Nursing required.
- In collaboration with the CNO, provides direct oversight of all areas where patient care is delivered including the allocation of human resources, nursing office, and patient flow maintaining authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services
- Develops and maintains close working relationships with physician colleagues and other healthcare providers in areas of clinical oversight. Collaborates with these individuals to set goals for the areas or develops action plans for patient care or system improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Assume primary responsibility for projects or task groups as assigned. Leading and participating in continuous performance improvement initiatives designed to measure and improve the quality of care delivered and are consistent with the organization’s priorities
- Work collaboratively with other patient care and support departments, fostering a climate of open communication and mutual problem-solving activities. Initiates and participates in joint performance improvement activities
- Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates systems/initiatives/programs to facilitate performance/quality improvements in keeping with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements; conducts ongoing assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the Division to better understand/identify future needs and challenges; evaluates existing systems/program/priorities and future potential to make recommendations for growth, and expansion. Plans and directs quality process improvement initiatives/projects to ensure achievement of business objectives.
- In collaboration with the CNO, ensures policies and procedures are consistent with recognized standards of professional practice and reflect the intent of regulatory standards.
- Ensures full compliance with internal/external legal and regulatory standards and requirements, and that effective control procedures are in place and fully functioning to preclude improprieties from occurring; monitors the effectiveness of current practices in meeting expectations and producing desired results.
- Assist in budget preparation and in managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs
