Our College Finance Office has begun the search for an Associate Vice President of Finance and Accounting (AVPFA) . The Associate Vice President of Finance and Accounting (AVPFA) serves as the operational touchpoint for finance & accounting formulation and execution, financial internal controls, audit preparation and managing the finance functions. The AVPFA is the principal lead with cash flow management, tax compliance, payroll, account receivable, account payable, grant accounting, P-Cards, internal and external financial reporting officer of the college. The AVPFA is responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely processing of financial transactions; maintaining sound accounting policies and practices; and balancing an effective and rigorous internal control regime with excellent customer service.

Salary/Compensation Statement:

  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Audit or Management or a related field.

Required Experience:
Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible administrative, management and leadership experience in accounting, financial or audit assignments

Licensure or Certification Requirements

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education
A CPA/MBA or higher degree in accounting, finance or auditing.

Preferred Experience
  • Supervisory experience in accounting and finance functions in a higher education environment.
  • Debt Obligation and Pension Bond experience.

Position Purpose:
The AVPFA is responsible for administering the primary accounting, business and financial operations of the college, providing internal responsibility and leadership for General Accounting, Cash Flow Services, Investments & Disbursements, and Grants Accounting.

Essential Functions:
  • Oversees accounting and financial services at the College by providing direction and guidance to staff and managers.
  • Provides leadership and strategic oversight of the financial and business operations of the college, providing college-wide strategic oversight of financial planning and treasury services, accounting and payroll operations, external reporting, and compliance with state and federal rules.
  • Engage in college-wide administration including the review and development of the College’s mission, goals, and budgets.
  • Collaborate on maintenance and evolution of administrative software (Banner); ensure appropriate participation and implementation.
  • Support the College’s academic mission and provide strategic direction in planning and execution of technology support needs.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership for projects, developing of additional resources, staying current with and anticipating changes in
  • Maintain compliance with established College policies and external regulations.
  • Provide the overall leadership and management for units and resources listed above in Areas of Responsibility.
  • Develop systems, policies and practices to ensure an outstanding customer service experience for students, faculty, and staff utilizing the IT services.
  • Promote excellence in Division personnel through recruitment, selection, evaluation, as well as acknowledgment and promotion of professional development.

Supervision Statement:
The Associate Vice President of Finance and Accounting reports to the Vice President of Finance and Operations and is a member of the President’s Executive Team.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
  • This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors.
  • This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day.
