Assist the Director of Athletics Media Relations in the day-to-day operations of the NMSU Athletics Media Relations office; supervise, direct, delegate, and evaluate work of assigned staff; produce game notes, media guides, programs and releases; game day management; media customer service; update sport-specific website and work with multiple social media channels. Promote NMSU’s sports programs, the Athletics Department and New Mexico State University through public relations activities. This position will require travel.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day sports information activities for the university.

Maintains, develops and enhances media relationships, writes news releases; researches and prepares background and briefing materials for interactions that university representatives have with the media. Works with the Director to identify news that support key university sports initiatives and messages and enhances and builds the image of the university sports through strategic media placements. May assist the director in management of specific functions of the unit. Performs other duties as assigned.

Strong writing and oral communication skills required. Working knowledge of publication design and computerized sports statistical compilation.

Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills needed. Skill in the use of computers, PC and/or Macintosh computers.

Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to complete assignments accurately, with attention to detail. Ability to make effective decisions under pressure and meet specific deadlines.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.

Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (ID,PS, BR) Working knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, FB)
