Automotive Mechanic
Job description
This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)
You will primarily be required to perform routine maintenance, oil changes, basic tune-ups of ignition systems, hinge point lubrications, tire repair/rotations, brake inspections/replacements on Navy-owned vehicles and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will be required to perform maintenance on all Navy owned vehicles (e.g. performing oil and filter changes, fuel filter and air filter replacement.
- You will be required to repair and/or rotate tires, inspect/replace brakes, replace fan belts, replacing fuses, etc.;
- You will be required to perform complete lubrication services, including checking and maintaining fluid levels in hydraulic, cooling, transmission, brake, clutch, and engine systems;
- You will test charging systems for proper output;
- You will service and repair cooling systems.
Must demonstrate:
- Basic vehicle maintenance and repair experience.
- Be able to read basic diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Be able to use basic hand and measuring tools.
