KEY OBJECTIVE(S)
Babies”R”Us Stock Room Associate will stock merchandise in a store, assist Guests and to do related work as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guest service. Smile and engage every Guest. Address all questions and inquiries by Guests. If asked a question that they cannot answer, will locate the appropriate subject expert to further help the Guest.
- Fill merchandise. Stock shelves at a rate of 20 cartons per hour. Replenishing a shelf, bin or pegged area with stock and transporting merchandise by hand. This also includes picking up loose pieces of merchandise from the floor.
- Rework merchandise. Re-merchandising any selling space, to regroup items, or to make space for new merchandise.
- Re-shop merchandise. Returning merchandise to its proper location on the sales floor as designated by aisle layouts. This requires knowledge of sales floor locations and proper merchandising techniques and can be accomplished either by hand or pushing a sales cart.
- Remove cardboard. Remove empty cases from the sales floor to the designated discard area, usually in storeroom. Uses baling machine to consolidate boxes.
- Reading and setting an aisle layout. To read both written and numerical verbiage, comprehend spatial relationships, and to set merchandise or on scanner peg hooks.
- Apply shelf labels. Manually placing shelf labels on lip below merchandise or on scanner peg hooks.
- Box cutter usage. The safe operation of a blade-type instrument designed for opening cased merchandise, as well as returning blade to its non-operational position when not in use.
- Return merchandise to the storeroom. Taking merchandise that could not be stocked at the time back to the storeroom, transporting either by hand or by flat cart or U-boat.
- Work overstocks/perimeter. Moving merchandise to and from the perimeter and gondola overstock areas and requires use of a ladder.
- Merchandise search. Physical search for merchandise either cased in storeroom or on perimeter or gondola overstocks.
- Pull transfers/RTV’s (return to vendor). Pulling and boxing of all merchandise form storeroom, sales floor, and overstocks that are to be returned to the vendor or transferred out of the store.
- Stock inquiries. Telephone calls from Guests inquiring about whether a particular item is in stock.
- The service area will transfer these calls to someone on the sales floor that has the responsibility to physically check the availability of the item and communicate this information to the Guest. Retention and execution of tasks. Able to learn and perform all essential job functions at an acceptable level with minimal supervision within 3 weeks.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1-2 years previous warehouse experience preferred
- Basic Computer skills required
- Must be extremely organized
- Must possess good math/counting skills
- Must have outstanding written/verbal communication
- Must have retail/merchandising knowledge
