About The Oak House

The Oak House is located in the heart of downtown Durham. The Oak House is a full-service, neighborhood craft beverage lounge with full-service coffee and tea program along with a vibrant bar featuring an impressive wine portfolio, 16 rotating craft beer taps, and an extensive collection of whiskey. Our desire is to create positive experiences for each of our guests through extraordinary service, in a comfortable environment, with knowledgeable and engageing team members.

About the Role

Our bartenders are experts in our array of carefully curated beverages. We are often known to have some of the hardest-to-find craft beers, rare whiskeys, and collectible and highly coveted wines. Each of our team members is well versed in wine, beer, and/or whiskey. They are ready and eager to educate our guests on what may be most interesting and memorable. We aren't a normal bar. We don't serve cocktails or have a wide breadth of liquors. We focus on extraordinary service and pouring the best craft beverages around.

Job Duties

• Be well-versed in our vast offerings of beer, wine, and whiskey
• Interact with customers in a professional manner
• Ability to speak knowledgeably on a wide variety of beverage options and ultimately assess customer needs and make relevant recommendations
• A keen sense of how to properly upsell and cross sell
• A willingness to provide coffee service when needed
• A hard-working attitude and a self-starter, that does whatever it takes to make sure our guests have a clean and comfortable experience
• Strict adherence to laws and policies including check guests’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age
• Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
• Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
• Comply with all food and beverage regulations
• Ability to easily bend over and lift up to 75 lbs including but not limited to beer kegs, cases of wine, etc.

About the Job

• We are currently hiring individuals that are able to work evenings and nights ( ~4:30pm - 11:30pm M-Th)
• We are also seeking individuals who are able to regularly work evenings on the weekends (~4:30pm - 1:00am Thursday - Saturday)
• We are also seeking individuals who can work mid shifts on Saturdays (~11:30am - 6:30pm)
• We are closed on Sundays!

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
