Job description

A battery energy storage field technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of battery energy storage systems (BESS) used in various applications, such as renewable energy integration, grid stabilization, and backup power.

The job description of a battery energy storage field technician may include the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Install BESS components, including batteries, inverters, and power conditioning equipment, according to project specifications and safety standards.

2. Conduct site surveys and assess the feasibility of BESS installations in collaboration with project managers and engineers.

3. Commission and test BESS systems to ensure they meet performance and safety standards.

4. Monitor and analyze BESS system performance using monitoring software and diagnostic tools.

5. Respond to and resolve BESS system issues and failures, including troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing faulty components.

6. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, testing, and replacing batteries, to ensure optimal BESS system performance and longevity.

7. Prepare and maintain detailed records of BESS system installation, operation, and maintenance activities.

8. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to identify opportunities for improving BESS system performance and reducing costs.

9. Maintain a safe and organized work environment by following safety procedures and regulations.

10. Provide technical support and training to customers and end-users on BESS system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

To be a successful battery energy storage field technician, one should have a strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems, knowledge of battery technologies, and experience with installation and maintenance of energy storage systems. Good communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are also important. A degree or diploma in electrical engineering or a related field is typically required, along with relevant certification and experience in the field.
