    SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to oversee the overall behavioral health plan of the district. They will act as a liaison, consultant, organizer, and key team member with the schools, district, and community in the integration of services, procedures, and protocols to support staff, students, and families with meeting behavioral health needs. This position is also responsible for coordinating behavioral health services and prevention efforts which include managing and seeking out grant opportunities and creating and strengthening community partnerships around behavioral health.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Collaborates with Secondary and Elementary Directors to develop a district wide vision/philosophy and build consensus on how to approach behavioral health for students and staff. Which includes behavioral health support for students and staff, behavior management and discipline practices in order to create safety for all students to learn.
    • Responsible for overseeing the district behavioral health plan in collaboration with school Counselors and Social Workers.
    • Leads a core group of coaches, counselors, administrators, teachers, parents, students and other interested parties to build their capacity in the following:
      • Trauma-informed practices
      • Proactive and collaborative strategies to manage behaviors
      • Emotional and problem-solving skills
    • Coordinates, develops and ensures delivery of systematic professional development designed to build the capacity of teachers, administrators, and staff members in behavioral health supports.
    • Builds community partnerships to support both the district and the community in meeting behavioral health needs.
    • Works cooperatively with the district and the community on behavioral health awareness media campaigns.
    • Coordinates collaborative activities for behavioral health and awareness with community partners and schools.
    • Assists the district and schools in identifying gaps in behavioral health services and seeks out solutions for meeting these needs.
    • Gathers necessary data and prepares reporting to ensure accurate outcome-based program evaluation.
    • Collaborates with Elementary and Secondary Education Directors as well as school-based administrators to support staff and schools in building strong, outcome-based systems of support.
    • Responsible for writing grants to maintain this position as well as additional behavioral health support positions districtwide.
    • Seeks assistance should emergencies arise.
    • Assumes responsibility for his/her own continuing professional growth and development by such efforts as attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications.
    • Adheres to all state, federal and district laws and policies pertaining to students’ education and well-being.
    • Follows professional guidance delineated in the American Counseling Association.
    • Knows and follow school district policy and chain of command.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    • Masters degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Educational Leadership or related field, required.
    • Experience working with school personnel in school settings
    • Experience that demonstrates a commitment to trauma informed practices, collaboration, and student and teacher empowerment
    • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams, building community partnerships, and creating and positively supporting and maintaining systems of change

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret education periodicals, assessment reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, clients, customers, and/or the general public.

    PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: Consistently demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.

    PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY SKILLS: Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference. Ability to conduct basic math functions, as well as manipulate formulas in spreadsheets.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with severe abstract and concrete variables.
