The Bike Manager position is a dynamic, challenging, and fun position. This person has a high level of bike product and industry knowledge, sets and maintains Wow standards for customer service, has strong communications skills, and is able to maintain proper processes from shop to floor. Duties and Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for the Bike Manager but is not necessarily ruled or limited by these tasks. The bike industry is ever evolving and staying with or ahead of the changes is essential to our success.

  • Daily management of 1-7 Bike Department staff including mechanics and floor sales.

  • Manage the schedule for Bike Department staff.

  • Interviewing, training, and developing staff at all levels.

  • Manage parts ordering, warranty issues, and service writing for shop work.

  • Manage the shop queue and keep productivity at expected levels.

  • Develop and maintain a healthy relationship with buyers, vendors, and marketing.

  • Set objectives and create paths for staff. Check in frequently and formally review 2x/year. .

  • Use reporting to direct efforts with merchandising and product training.

  • Lead by example and create a positive and productive atmosphere.

  • Assist in marketing events and community outreach.

  • Work with Presidio Rentals Manager to support the success of our bike rental business

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace at all times.


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience successfully managing in a retail environment.

  • Great attitude, loves helping people, able to get along with many personalities.

  • Basic mechanic skills preferred. Advanced skills a bonus.

  • High level of knowledge in current road, tri, cyclocross, mountain, commuter, electric and recreational bikes, and all parts and accessories.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Organized, detail oriented, efficient, and strong follow-through.

  • Work at least one weekend day/week.

  • Computer savvy.

  • Ability to thrive in an evolving company and contribute to best practices.

  • Strong autonomy, sense of urgency, and being able to hustle.


Working Environment/Minimum Physical Requirement

You must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Position requires standing up to 8+ hours per shift, bending, leaning and kneeling on a regular basis during a shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in order to perform essential functions. Must be able to work in a high volume, high traffic environment. Must be able to manage tricky customer situations.

Performance reviews will be conducted bi-yearly but do not necessarily constitute a required increase in pay.

Managers are reviewed twice a year based on sales results, productivity, and leadership performance. Pay raises will be evaluated at this time. Bonuses are paid one time per year and are based on the average score over the two previous reivews.
