The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an opening for a Building Coordinator C04 – NYC ILR Facilities Coordinator for the NYC ILR facility located at 570 Lexington Ave.
The facility encompasses two floors including office space and conference rooms. This includes 90 employee and guest workspaces and conference center space which can accommodate groups from 2 to 100 and offers six conference rooms, video conferencing capabilities and on-site program/event support. The NYC Conference Center operating hours from 8:00am to 10:00pm, Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm Friday, and Saturday, as needed from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Position reports to NYC Conference Center Assistant Manager, with dotted line reporting to ILR Associate Director of Facilities Management.
We are seeking a person for the following, and not limited to:
- Daily maintenance and operations of the facility including.
- Trouble shoot and coordinate response to routine and emergency facility maintenance and operations issues.
- Initiate ticket generation to resolve operational issues.
- access to building by issuing key access
- Maintain inventory of space, furniture, and equipment.
- Interface with building users about proper operation of all equipment including photocopiers and telephone system.
- Coordinate building environmental health and safety activities
- Maintain and assist with the development and modification of procedures and policies related to the use of facilities.
- This position also serves as the on-site Emergency Coordinator for NYC 570 Lexington, including evacuation and emergency management logistics.
- This position is responsible for Conference Center logistics including set-up of classroom furniture, food, and beverage coordination, set up and support of audio/video technologies in conference rooms.
- The working conditions will require this person to lift/carry/push/pull typically more than 50 lbs.
- The position is also responsible for the ILR mail sorting facility.
This position is on-site and regularly scheduled to work from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, hours may vary based on operational needs. Based on the business needs of the office, evening and weekend work will be required with advanced notice.
This is a full-time (35 hours a week), bargaining unit position that falls under the non-exempt CWA contract. The position is based at the ILR NYC Extension office located at 570 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022.
What we need:
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to three years of relevant work experience.
- Prior experience in facilities or custodial services.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service
- Must have a record of excellent attendance and dependability.
- Thorough understanding of safety procedures to avoid accidents arising from product or equipment misuse.
- Excellent physical condition and ability to perform repetitive lifting of up to 100 lbs.
- Interact effectively with stakeholders and co-workers while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
- Perform self-directed work to accomplish goals required.
- Perform well in a team environment.
- Able to organize information and tasks with attention to detail.
- Logically and creatively problem solve, multi-task and manage priorities effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidential and/or sensitive information.
- Simultaneously coordinate multiple activities that involve a diverse group of stakeholders, within fiscal and time constraints.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to and communicate with the public at all levels.
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel as well as Outlook email and calendaring systems.
You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:
- Trade certification desirable.
- Experience with Windows desktop systems, classroom projection systems, setting up Zoom (or similar) on-line meetings, and presentation software.
- Familiarity with emergency procedure protocols.
Salary per CWA non-exempt bargaining unit contract: $32.83/hour
