Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department.

Function: Assist in the underwriting of all S&T Bank’s Small Business Loan Products in a centralized environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and make timely lending decisions that:
    • Empower the individual with delegated lending authority for approving credit facilities.
    • Will contribute to the development and growth of a high quality/volume portfolio.
    • Assures compliance with all applicable lending laws and regulations
    • Demonstrates consistency and fairness to all applicants
    • Complies with S&T Bank’s lending policies and procedures.
  • Consistently apply and document designated override authority associated with:
    • Established Policy rules and severity levels
    • Exceptions to loan policy and guidelines.
  • Provide timely responses to Business Bankers and Community Banking Managers that are clear and easy to understand.
  • Develop a high level of proficiency in using the Small Business Central Underwriting System and the Portfolio Risk Advisor System .
  • Provide back-up assistance to the Portfolio Manager, as needed.
  • Responsible for providing assistance with Business Banking loan training both in the classroom and with the underwriting system.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current as well as future changes (when applicable) to:
    • Federal & State lending laws and regulations
    • Bank lending policies and procedures
    • Commercial and Consumer loan products
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism when performing duties
  • Maintain a good working relationship with bank employees in other departments. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as Motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in Turn the organization.
  • Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Demands

Operates a keypad device: 80% of the day; operates electronic equipment: 10% of the day; operates office equipment: 10% of the day. The primary parts of the body involved in performing these tasks are the fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists and elbows. Sitting is required seven hours per day. Use of manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 40% of the business day. Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18”-20” for computer work.
