Description

• This position will work in a commercial data center environment both outdoor and indoor. The majority of work is indoor and you will learn the art of cabling. The position works for an enterprise level company to compile data from phone, internet, security, and digital workplace infrastructure. This is a career, in which you can work your way up through the ranks.

Overview

You will assist higher level technicians and team leads in building out data centers networks. You will be trained and expected to work independently in:

• Pulling Cable/Fiber
• Laying Fiber/Cable
• Learning Color Codes
• Rerouting
• Punchdown and Terminations
• Installing Cable Trays and Pathways
• Building Server Racks

Day-to-Day

• Learn to follow blueprints from supervisors direction.
• Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method.
• Install a work area outlet for floor (i.e. monument), and wall (i.e. box eliminator).
• Route cable through data center.
• Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.
• Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.

Shift & Pay

• 1st shift core hours
• Monday-Friday, some Saturdays during peak seasons
• 8-10 hour shifts, 40+ hours/week
• Technician 1 Salary $37,000 (0-1 year experience)
• Technician 1 Salary can exceed $45,000 for those who work 2 Saturdays of OT per month
