REPORTS TO: General Manager
SUMMARY
To ensure the timely and accurate supervision of cage operations, including supervision of cashiering staff and the receipt, distribution, exchange, transfer, inventory and balancing of money/assets. To supervise cage operations in compliance with the State of Colorado Regulations, ICMP and other applicable municipal, state and federal laws or regulations. To consistently and diplomatically maintain good public relations with casino customers and employees. To maintain and comply with safety and security standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Within the realm of the responsibility of the job, maintains a clean and safe work environment. Performs duties in compliance with safety procedures. This includes use of safety equipment. The Cage Manager is responsible for following safety procedures, identifying unsafe practices or conditions and informing their manager of unsafe conditions, as directed.
2. Supervises cage cashiers in the timely and accurate receipt, distribution, exchange, transfer, inventory, and balancing of money/assets.
3. Supervises and develops an effective staff by hiring, training, scheduling, rewarding and disciplining staff. Develops staff to meet and exceed performance expectations by establishing and maintaining positive work morale and effective employee relations. Supervises a staff of ten or more subordinates in the cage operations.
4. Supervises staff in developing and maintaining effective working relationships and good customer service skills with all customers and employees.
5. Ensures that the staff accurately counts and verifies customer winnings and requests to exchange or receive cash. Acts to keep customers satisfied and motivated to return whether they win or lose.
6. Follows established security protocols to ensure that casino work environments are safe.
7. Supervises cage operations in compliance with departmental policy and procedures, the State of Colorado Regulations, ICMP and other applicable municipal, state, and federal laws or regulations.
8. Reports violations of casino security policies and procedures and ICMP to Casino Operations Manager and Compliance Officer.
9. Completes and maintains a record of daily or scheduled reports on cage operations of all non-compliance issues. Any cage out of balance by $500.00 or more by shift must be reported to Casino Operations Manager(s) and compliance officer within 24 hours with resolution to correct problem.
10. Maintains alertness for the performance of all responsibilities and a general awareness of casino operations at all times.
11. Prepares written evaluations of employees in department.
12. Casino Operations Manager must approve all new hires, terminations and disciplinary actions. Coordinates with Human Resources on all new hires, terminations and disciplinary actions.
13. Responsible to write the cage procedures, update when necessary and to be approved by the Compliance Officer and Casino Operations Manager.
14. Immediately reports any suspicious criminal activity to Casino Operations Manager or Security.
15. Manages the check writing system and Game Cash system, according to Colorado Division of Gaming Regulations, ICMP’s, and company policy. Prepares reports from the system as required.
16. Responsible for determining the correct amount and denomination assortment of cash to maintain in the cage and vault to cover demand until the next drop.
17. Responsible to know on hand cage’s/vault cash inventory. Vault inventory must come from Shift Managers. Is authorized to exchange money at the bank. If a check is required, check signer approval is required.
18. Cage Manager position is required to work at least 40 hours per week. These hours to be scheduled so that both cages have adequate supervision and staffing. The Cage Manager must physically spend time in both cages, at his/her discretion so he/she has a complete comprehension of cage operations.
19. Cage supervisor is point of contact for Game Cash.
20. Must be flexible to work any day any shift.
21. Prepares weekly work schedules for department according to the due date established by the Human Resources department. All overtime is minimal and approved by the Cage Manager.
22. Invoice approval level of $200.00.
23. Ensure that the cage has the proper amount of controlled forms and supplies for each day.
24. Performs other duties, including special projects, as needed and directed.
25. Attendance: reports to work as scheduled, on time, and ready to work.
TRAINING: Responsible for training staff in these areas and others as seen fit: Filling out documents according to the ICMP, count & verification of customer winnings, customer service, compliance, security/surveillance, cage inventory, cash summary, check writing and Game Cash. Establish requirements for an on-going training program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated experience-supervising cashiers preferably in a gaming, banking, or customer service environment. Demonstrated experience receiving, securing, handling, counting, reconciling, and distributing large sums of money. Demonstrated effective and diplomatic customer service and communication skills, which includes contacts with employees and customers. Demonstrated experience supervising and motivating staff.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduation from High School or equivalent, with completion of an associate's degree desired. Three (3) or more years of recent and related supervisory experience, preferred within a gaming environment. Gaming experience desired.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills using English.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid State of Colorado Gaming License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential duties involve performing physical exertion: Dexterity handling currency, coins, tokens, chips, brisk walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching, pushing and stranding for an entire work shift with standard breaks. Essential duties require lifting up to 50 pounds, working any day of the week and any shift of the day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Essential duties involve working with large numbers of people in an inside casino environment, which is subject to frequently loud or high noise levels from customers, slot machines and from coin counting machines. Casino locations are frequently filled with cigarette smoke.
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Various gaming related equipment including money trays, currency, coins and coin counting machines. General office equipment includes typewriters, computers, fax machines, photocopier staplers and tape.
