Pay: $50,000 Annual salary

Job Summary:
Under general direction, the Campground Manager is responsible for overall management of Jekyll Island Campground and Guest Service personnel, campground reservations and operation of the retail store, including cash control, inventory management and product purchasing. The Campground Manager is also responsible for overall guest satisfaction and positive campground experience, maximizing the campground’s resources to achieve optimum standards of service and value to guests within profit objectives and a manner consistent with the Authority’s expectations and policies.
Description:
- Oversees the overall management of the campground; reservations, campground personnel, and retail store operations, including cash control, inventory management and product purchasing.
- Oversees the strategic planning and growth of the campground including developing ideas for revenue growth and improving guest experience to generate repeat business.
- Participates in on-going management/staff training including harassment, diversity, customer service, etc., and ensures subordinates receive proper training.
- Interviews, hires, trains, supervise, and evaluates Campground staff, conducts coaching for performance improvements.
- Provides employee feedback including positive coaching to subordinates
- Delegates duties within the campground as necessary, with proper, documented training.
- Performs analysis to monitor occupancy, revenue, expenditures, and cash flow.
- Ensures the security of assets, finances, team members and guests.
- Enforces JIA policies, rules and regulations that govern the use of the campground.
- Prepares daily reporting; responsible for reporting campground transactions, researching and documenting any discrepancies as necessary, turns in proper documentation to Accounting within the required timelines. Adheres to appropriate accounting guidelines. Ensures deposit is made daily.
- Participates in development of annual budget, responsible for adhering to approved budget.
- Prepares employee schedules, monitors staffing needs vs. labor costs.
- Understands the operation of point-of-sale system and cash register, conducts employee training as necessary.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends to remain competitive in the industry.
- Resolves guest complaints to the satisfaction of the customer within JIA guidelines, addresses problems, complaints, disturbances, or unhappy guests.
- Represents the Jekyll Island Campground at events, promotes the island and campground services.
- Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
- Follows and applies organization policies and procedures.
- Promotes Campground services and facilities as well as other Jekyll Island Authority amenities such as Sea Turtle Center, Mini Golf, Bike Rental, Golf, Summer Waves, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years campground, recreation and/or hospitality experience required with at least two (2) years of recent supervisory experience.
- In addition to required related experience, may consider any equivalent combination of education and training, that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
- Must be able to clearly communicate, both verbally and written word.
- Ability to analyze industry data.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications; Outlook, Word, Excel, industry specific reservations software, applicant software, and POS system.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Flexible availability must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional early evenings.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, grasping and using repetitive motions of wrist, hands and fingers.
- Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday will be spent crouching and/or stooping, kneeling.
- Less than 25% of the day is spent climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying crouching and/or stooping, kneeling.
- Must have visual clarity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribing, use of computers and expansive reading.
- Sensory abilities required include vision, feeling and touching with more than 50% of the day spent talking and hearing.
- Work will be performed within both an indoor office environment and outside. Work may be conducted in adverse environmental conditions including rain, extreme heat and humidity, and cold..
- Noise level is considered normal.
