Offering more than 100 certificate, associate and bachelor’s degree programs, Daytona State College (DSC) has responded to the education and workforce training needs in our region for more than 60 years. The college enrolls nearly 25,000 students annually at its seven instructional sites, with graduates serving in critical fields including health care, emergency services, business, education, hospitality, engineering, technology and more.


We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Campus Safety Officer.


Required Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of (6) months of related work experience in customer service or security. A Class E Florida Driver’s License. CPR certification is required or must be attained within six (6) months from start date.


Preferred Qualifications: A Florida Class “D” Security License


This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $14.42 with an approximate annual amount of $30,000.


Working Hours: Regular work hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. This position is based at the Daytona Campus. However, this position may require travel for temporary assignment or permanent relocation to any of the Daytona State campuses.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Performs routine patrol and building/room checks, open and closure activities.
  • Protection of college property and personnel, and the preservation of good order.
  • Responds to incidents, accidents, and emergencies on campus and writes reports.
  • Assisting motorists, students, employees, and visitors on campus.
  • Answering calls for assistance, escorting students and others as requested.
  • Maintaining necessary campus security records and reports.
  • Works dispatch, including answering phones, dispatching calls, monitoring alarm systems.
  • Prepares for and assists with special events.
  • Maintains and cleans golf carts and other assigned equipment.
  • Attends periodic trainings.
  • Maintains NIMS/FEMA certificates, CPR certificate, and class D License.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, and on holidays and weekends; be flexible with job duties and available to work extended shifts with little or no prior notice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills to provide information, guidance, or aid. The candidate must also have computer skills sufficient to prepare security incident reports as well as effective oral and written communication proficiencies.
