GENERAL FUNCTION AND JOB DUTIES
General Function
Performs a variety of administrative and counseling duties that assist students in making career decisions, meeting employers, and managing the job search process.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Counsels students regarding the career development process, including administering and interpreting career assessment instruments such as the Myers-Briggs Inventory and Strong Interest Inventory.
2. Designs and implements outreach programs to promote and encourage use of Career Services by students, faculty, and staff.
3. Advises students individually and in class presentations regarding resume writing, interviewing and job search skills.
4. Develops promotional materials and strategies for the department.
5. Assists students in finding career information on the web.
6. Updates assigned web pages or other marketing materials.
7. Works collaboratively with faculty members to promote and provide career services.
8. Assists employers and works in a team to host hiring events.
9. Advises and counsels undecided students through the career development process.
10. Assists in the orientation process for new students with emphasis on career information, exploration, and selection.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics
Knowledge of career counseling theory, practice, trends, and strategies.
Knowledge of career assessments, such as the MBTI and the Strong Interest Inventory, and their interpretation
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Strong knowledge job search processes and methods
Excellent presentation skills
Ability to demonstrate cultural competence in work with a diverse student population
Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks
Marketing skills
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Experience in event and program planning
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Counseling, Student Development or a related field and one year experience in career counseling (in a college career services office or related setting preferred)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary for this position is $47,817 - $74,118. Pay grade for this position is L. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 25% percentile. Contract type is Professional. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments may be required of any position. All positions are subject to budget approval.
