Job description
The Customer Category Manager will the category expert in assigned categories and be a key team member that works closely with shopper insights and sales to drive category growth for Walmart in relevant categories. A key measure of success is the development of a long-term category partnership with Walmart and demonstrable deep customer knowledge and wide penetration amongst all relevant stakeholders. The ideal candidate is directly responsible for the customization and execution of category initiatives with Walmart. This includes translating & executing effective category and shopper insights into tangible plans that are mutually beneficial to the company & Walmart’s category performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with shopper insights, sales, and Walmart to develop plans to grow the category at Walmart.
- Customize strategies and plans to support the retailer’s category strategy.
- Effectively negotiate mutually beneficial solutions with various stakeholders and influence key decision-makers to improve in-store presence & shopper conversion.
- Conduct analysis of specific customer promotions and feed in recommendations to Trade Marketing & the relevant NAM(s).
- Contribute to internal and external meetings by being the category expert to improve the effectiveness and applicability of go to market strategies.
- Be a self-directed expert that develops and drives initiatives with the support of shopper insights and implements own initiatives from concept to in-store execution.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree, MBA preferred.
- 5-years of experience in category management. Walmart experience preferred.
- Proven track record of influencing within cross-functional relationships with key decision makers.
- Proven ability to develop strong long-term client/customer relationships.
- Proven analytical skills & ability to successfully integrate different streams of information into sound propositions.
- Ability to learn new tools and capabilities to help develop and support initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Syndicated Data (Nielsen, Numerator, etc.), primary and secondary research, and Luminate.
- Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Highly proactive with strong time management & organizational skills
- Proven political understanding & resilience demonstrating the ability to operate on their own with demanding customers.
