Over The Moon Play Space is a space-themed indoor playground in Cary, NC, combining play with learning about STEAM topics.

We are seeking 1 full-time and 2 part-time seasonal camp assistant counselors who have a passion for sparking children’s natural curiosity and exploring how the universe works. This role is ideal for a college student or someone who has worked with kids in an informal setting like a camp or a museum. You don’t need deep STEM content knowledge, as long as you love the intersection of STEM and kids!

You must be available to attend training the week of May 8th (likely in the afternoons or evenings, depending on the team’s schedules). You will be paid for this time, of course. Camp starts June 5th, and ends August 25th. If you cannot do a week at the beginning or end we may be able to work around that, but preference is given to those who can commit to the entire summer. Our camps have a maximum staff-camper ratio of 1:10, with additional support.

The role will involve:

• Assisting camp staff with transitions in classroom.
• Assisting with classroom management.
• Providing an extra pair of eyes and hands to camp staff during open play.
• Capturing images of campers and uploading them for families to view.
• Setting up and putting away activity supplies and cleaning up between activities.
• Maintaining a clean and organized camp room.

This role would be perfect for:

• A college student on summer break.
• Someone who has worked with groups of children in the past.
• Someone who is interested in a mentorship program for the summer - you’ll be learning from seasoned educators!
• Someone who's interested in learning how to educate kids, to get kids excited about learning, and/or to get kids excited about all things science.
• Someone who demonstrates professionalism and reliability - we are very team-oriented.
• Someone who is able to improvise camp activities, games, and etc.

We need to know you’ll be available the full summer. While we accommodate all of our team as best we can, our summer camp enrollment rate will leave us quite busy during the season. We’re not able to approve more than a week of time off during the summer.

Your schedule would be either

• Monday-Friday: 8:30am-3:30pm(Part-time) or
• Monday-Friday: 8:30am-5pm (Full-time)

Pay is $15 per hour, however, it will be paid at $13/hour during the summer, and the final $2/hour will be paid in a lump sum upon completion of the entire summer.
