Jerry Pittman is hiring a Certification Manager with extensive shipbuilding experience in Panama City, FL.

Functions

Reports to the Senior Test Manager in all areas of ABS class and 3rd Party certifications. Work with OPC Program, including, but not limited to, Engineering, Program Management, Procurement, Test department, and Production, to manage and track the status of, and ensure attainment of a class certificate from ABS and required 3rd Party Certifications for OPC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Support the Senior Test Manager in all areas of ABS class and 3rd Party certifications including tracking engineering design reviews, factory testing, and regular status briefs.
  • Coordinate with the pertinent organizations for assigned certifications, coordinating between all groups to ensure all certification requirements for class are met.
  • Ensure the timely review and resolution of design comments identified by Cert Agent to confirm the design is fully compliant with applicable requirements by working with Production, QA, and Engineering departments.
  • Work with the USCG, at the recommendation of OPC engineering and test departments, to coordinate proposed changes to the certification requirements and/or design.
  • Work with ABS vendor coordinator and OPC vendors to ensure detailed design, production control, and factory testing is identified, scheduled, and conducted.
  • Provide PM level briefs on the status of certifications upon request.
  • Provide technical program management support for C5ISR and HM&E all OPC program shipboard certification requirements.
  • Work with the customer representative to coordinate visits with the responsible Warfare Center or Certification Agency for inspections, reports, and discrepancy tracking for solutions and fielding plans.
  • Responsibilities include C5ISR and HM&E system areas such as but not limited to CHT, Aviation. Consolidated Operability Testing (COT), Cargo Weapons Elevators, and Navigation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Will directly supervise employees assigned to the OPC Test Dept. Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

Reporting Relationship

This position will report to the OPC Senior Test Manager.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Two to five or more years of shipyard construction experience, preferably on ABS classed vessels, and other US Navy or US Coast Guard Programs, for 3rd Party certifications. Previous ship construction and test, or USCG/USN Service, with shipboard mechanical and electrical experience, preferred. Must be able to quickly understand ship certifications, and have the ability to work with various Certification Agents, including ABS, the US Coast Guard, ESG, and associated Vendors. Experience with integration of a shipbuilding program into Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), starting with design through fabrication, construction, and delivery preferred. Experience working with the ABS NVR is highly desired.

Skills:

Intermediate-level Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Company policies/procedures, and governmental regulations. Interpret contract requirements, specifications, and drawings into a comprehensive test program. Effectively present information, brief presentations and respond to questions from senior management, employees, government officials, and the public. Effective written and verbal communication skills are required. Forge and sustain outstanding client relationships while managing multiple workstreams. Work independently and as part of the project team while exercising diplomacy and tact. Rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports. Previous ship construction and test, or USCG/USN Service, with shipboard electrical experience. Experience developing test procedures using ABS NVR. Experience with integration of a test program into Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), starting with design through fabrication, construction, and delivery.

This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard during the production, outfit, test, and delivery phases of each Ship. Employees must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
