Overview:
As a Chassis and Structures Design Engineer, you will design new products and processes, and improve and maintain existing products, for Case IH and New Holland CCH [Cash Crop High] and 4WD agricultural tractors manufactured at the Racine, WI and Fargo, ND plants respectively. This position will lie within a global tractor Chassis and Structures engineering team. We seek candidates that have experience in any of the following systems: Structures, Weldments, Castings, Vehicle Suspension, Cab and Operator Environment, Hoods Grilles and Engine Enclosures, Hydraulic Hose and Tube Routing, or other general on or off-road vehicle engineering systems. As a Chassis and Structures Design Engineer, you will design new products and processes, and improve and maintain existing products, for Case IH and New Holland CCH [Cash Crop High] and 4WD agricultural tractors manufactured at the Racine, WI and Fargo, ND plants respectively. This position will lie within a global tractor Chassis and Structures engineering team. We seek candidates that have experience in any of the following systems: Structures, Weldments, Castings, Vehicle Suspension, Cab and Operator Environment, Hoods Grilles and Engine Enclosures, Hydraulic Hose and Tube Routing, or other general on or off-road vehicle engineering systems.
- Design and release for new design and production changes and improvements on the structural components of the tractor series, due to current product improvement efforts and/or new product development.
- Utilize Creo, FEA software, spreadsheets and statistical methods to design components and systems, and implement solutions for new and current product. Identify and resolve design issues that result in assembly or warranty issues
- Lead projects, prepare and complete designs, design reviews, FMEA, and lead modeling (component and assembly) and drawing efforts with the support of experienced engineering staff.
- Track costs of completed designs with product cost management. Clearly define and evaluate component and system costs versus achieved functionality.
- Complete test requests, and shop work orders, resolve field product integrity reports (PIR's), and track progress. Accountable to achieve reliability targets in project growth period.
- Communicate with management, engineering team, platform, production, and marketing staff utilizing effective proactive engineering tools to determine design feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer acceptance for new and current products and refine requirements when necessary. Provide necessary models and documentation necessary to support major management milestone presentation reviews.
- Accountable for prototype builds and actively engage in field operations as required. Must be able to develop, maintain, and release necessary system specifications and documentation consistent with program requirements.
- Keep informed of engineering and agricultural technological developments, and evolving field practices through field contacts, professional technical societies, associated conferences and customer interfaces.
- This position pays $76,000 to $109,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
The qualified candidate will have:
- Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in either Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering.
- 3 plus years of design experience (Bachelor Degree) or 1 year of design experience with Master Degree in on-road or off-road vehicles and/or agricultural equipment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Prefer Creo experience and/or general CAD design.
- General knowledge of basic mechanical principles, kinematics, structural materials, FEA, and standard vehicle components.
- Working knowledge of general computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) issues, problems, and observations of work being performed.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision managing multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to travel approximately up to 5%.
