DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood and blood products transport, and inventory management.

The patient population of Thornton 2 West Telemetry PCU includes General Medicine, General Surgery, Cystic Fibrosis, Epilepsy, Advanced Lung Disease, Bariatric Surgery.

This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in collaborative team environment, including: training and evaluation of peers; scheduling of work; and assisting the administrative functions of the unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

  • Current BART certification, or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous acute care CNA or patient-care experience.

  • Knowledge of Epic, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.

  • Current nursing student enrolled in an RN program.

  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.

  • Medical terminology certificate.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week per 4-week schedule. Must be available at least 1 weekend shift per 4-week schedule and a minimum of 1 holiday. This is subject to change based on individual department needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $60,468 - $60,468 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.96 - $28.96

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
