CNC Machinist
Job description
The CNC Machinist operates and maintains computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce machined parts. They ensure adherence to quality and safety standards, maintain records, and manage equipment and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines according to work instructions, engineering drawings, and machine programs while maintaining specified tolerances.
- Perform complex machining tasks on various parts and metals with high precision.
- Make necessary adjustments and tooling changes to maintain optimal performance.
- Ensure product quality by following operator-owned quality standards and using measuring equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance and adhere to maintenance schedules.
- Perform hand finishing tasks as required.
- Follow Good Manufacturing and Good Document Practices (GMP/GDP) and complete job routers/cards.
- Prioritize tasks, meet productivity targets, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records using the job tracking system.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report and escalate manufacturing issues to supervisors and participate in their resolution.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S/housekeeping standards.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or GED; Associate's degree/certificate in Tooling & Machining or Machinist apprenticeship preferred.
- Experience: 0-5 years of experience, preferably in a production environment.
- Skills: Proficient in operating, setting up, and maintaining CNC machines. Strong math skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Basic computer skills.
- Attributes: Safety-conscious, reliable, team player. Problem-solving and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to quality and on-time production.
