SUMMARY

The CNC Setup Technician is responsible for setting up Swiss CNC machines with tooling, program, and calibration as needed to manufacture CNC parts compliant to specified drawings.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Setup machine tooling of Swiss CNC machines (up to high difficulty parts).
  • Perform 100% inspection of part characteristics to verify compliance
  • Identify issues with tooling setup, machine programs, etc. as needed to successfully begin manufacture of compliant CNC parts. Write CNC programs needed to manufacture compliant part.
  • Identify necessary tooling to manufacture new parts.
  • Perform duties meeting best practices as established by the part department.
  • Build product to standard manufacturing rates.
  • Complete product and process inspections
  • Complete product and material changeovers.
  • Train others on machine setup, tooling adjustments, and program adjustments.
  • Participate in identifying process improvements and implementation of continuous improvement.
  • Work safely and look-out for the safety of others
  • Keep area clean and organized
  • Maintain required certifications (where applicable)
  • Interface with computer software to find documents and complete data entry.
  • Make process adjustments based on quality or process data.
  • Perform Set-Up Machinist job duties in order to meet quality, cost, and on-time delivery goals.
  • Able to work overtime as assigned.
  • Willing and able to support continuous improvement activities.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies is a clean facility, housing different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toed shoes
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses
  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, read blueprints, drawings, and schematics

JOB SKILLS

  • Manufacturing experience in a custom make to order environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills – able to identify and analyze data and resolve problems in a timely manner. Develops alternative solutions to problems and corrective actions.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma Tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills – able to explain complex operations and methods clearly and concisely. Technical writing experience preferred.
  • Able to participate in and advise cross functional project teams
  • Formal Problem Solving Training (RCA, PDCA, 8D, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with ERP system preferred.
  • Co-operates with others and treats all with respect.
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions. Willingly accepts feedback from others.
