Job Title: Collector

Reports to: Collections Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: NE12

Supervisory Responsibility: No

SUMMARY:

Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by telephone and/or mail. Collect deposits, payments or fees. Maintain collection records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor and/or Trustco Bank’s Board of Directors.

  • Coordinates daily collection calls to delinquent customers and ensure compliance with debt collection laws and regulations.
  • Prepare bankruptcy packets in compliance with bankruptcy laws.
  • Prepares delinquency letters in compliance with regulations and timing requirements.
  • Prepares foreclosure and judgment files for manager’s review.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to work well independently and in groups.
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS:

This is a full time position. Office hours vary and our based on department needs. Generally, Monday – Friday 8:30am – 6:00pm., two Saturdays per month and one late evening. Additional work hours may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL:

No travel required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
