FT Grant Fundedposition - hourly, non-exempt, based on 35 hours weekly. - minimum of 1 year funding with potential for continued employment.

Outreach Coordinators serve as Ethos ambassadors to the community to increase access to hot, nutritious meals and utilization of other long-term services and supports.

As a state-authorized Aging Services Access Point (ASAP), Ethos coordinates all the non-institutional home and community-based services for elderly and disabled residents of the southwest Boston neighborhoods of West Roxbury, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Jamaica Plain, and Mattapan and well as, provides city-wide nutrition services in Boston, which serve approximately 2.1 million meal for older adults, delivered to the home (Meals on Wheels) or served in neighborhood congregate settings (Community Cafés). The organization also provides Medicare Counseling (SHINE), Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Money Management and Healthy Aging programs for the entire city of Boston. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Community Outreach Coordinator helps increase enrollment in the Ethos Nutrition program, including Home Delivered Meals and Community Dining, as well as related services, activities, and events, by disseminating information to Spanish and English-speaking residents of Boston, caregivers, social services workers, community associations and other potential referral sources. Outreach Coordinators serve as Ethos ambassadors to the community to increase access to hot, nutritious meals and utilization of other long-term services and supports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in enrolling consumers in the nutrition program, scheduling appointments for eligibility assessments
  • Develop, adapt, translate and distribute language and culturally appropriate marketing and outreach materials as needed
  • Facilitates and provides ongoing nutrition and elder services education to consumers, caregivers, and referral sources
  • Identifies and develops community partnerships that result in increased enrollment in nutrition services, attendance at community dining sites, or referrals to other Ethos programs.
  • Assist with event planning, including the development of promotion and marketing collateral from design to print and distribution
  • Promotes access to a variety of food and nutrition programs including SNAP, HIP, farmer’s market vouchers, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Performs data entry and tracks and report all outreach activities by date, type, location, consumers, and other necessary information

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business administration, human services, management, or related area, with 1-2 years of experience, preferred not required. 5 years of community experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience in health care, aging services, nutrition, health education, non-profit marketing, or similar field.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and agencies and, coordinate activities with multiple organizations.
  • Must be tech-savvy and be comfortable working with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Knowledge of and prior experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Flexible schedule; ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Experience with group presentations
  • Must have transportation to travel to outreach sites promptly and have the physical ability to access sites and transport necessary materials.
  • Must be able to traverse two flights of stairs.
