SUMMARY

A batcher / compounder prepares batches of raw materials for production processing according to specifications and established procedures. Obtains materials from inventory and utilizes scales and other measuring devices to accurately weigh the various components. In addition, the qualified person mixes, disperses and converts raw materials into a finished product.

This is accomplished by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • A batcher safely pumps, mixes and blends both dry and liquid chemicals as specified by the batch ticket and manufacturing instructions.
  • Safely operate a variety of mixers, dispersers and related chemical processing equipment.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and related equipment.
  • Has the ability to accurately follow batch formulations.
  • Required to record process information, such as lot numbers, temperature, mixing speed, and times (legibly).
  • Be able to wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators, safety glasses, gloves, arm / sleeve protectors and aprons when needed.
  • Use barcode scanners to accurately transfer raw materials (electronically).
  • Coordinate tasks with other workers who are working in the batch processing area.
  • Inspect tanks in order to ensure that they are empty and suitable for use prior to adding materials.
  • Operate in a hot and dusty environment where the work is physically demanding.
  • Assists in other areas of the plant as needed.
  • The Chemical Batch Maker reports to the Production Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified individuals must have 2+ years of hands on experience with chemical batch making or similar manufacturing experience (or related technical degree).
  • Fork lift experience.
  • Computer skills
  • Basic mathematic skills
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Good writing and communication skills in English.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires that the incumbent be physically able to lift and move up to 75 pounds, and stand for long periods of time.

Job Performance Standards:

  • Work safely and efficiently on a daily basis.
  • Generate quality products that meets or exceeds ATC quality standards.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work-station and area.
  • Maintains equipment and communicates to maintenance personnel and/or manager or supervisor any equipment malfunctions.
  • Accomplishes daily production standards and communicates to manager or supervisor any short-falls in regard to daily production output goals.
  • Work over-time as needed to meet customer demands.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Able to lead and direct other personnel at work-station.

Able to multi-task and perform several tasks at the same time and keep several pieces of equipment running at the same time.
