Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company, LLC seeks a Construction Cost Accountant in Draper, Utah.


Duties: (1) Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all financial reports and statements which support multiple projects (15%); (2) Attend and contribute to Project Status Review Meetings: (a) Review monthly financial performance versus project bid expectations; and (b) Verify quantities of owner billings versus revenue generated through cost recognition (10%); (3) Provide daily forecasting and updates for labor, equipment, sub-contractor performance, and materials—from current status to project completion (10%); (4) Prepare owner and sub-contractor monthly pay estimates for multiple projects, and submit to the Controller for “SOX” compliance and processing (15%); (5) Coordinate with Estimators and Project Managers on current/awarded construction projects and import budgeted costs into ViewPoint and HCSS (“HeavyJob”) (10%); (6) Negotiate pricing with vendors and suppliers on materials purchased for multiple projects’ current and forecasted needs and coordinate delivery of purchased goods (15%); (7) Review and report daily cost controls for multiple projects in areas of: rented equipment, owned equipment, material purchases, and labor and report results to senior divisional leadership (20%); (8) Produce evidence for insurance claim quotes through in-depth investigation into the means and methods for replacement of damaged equipment and materials (2%); (9) Perform ad-hoc projects and duties as designed by Assistant Controller and company’s senior management team (2%); and (10) Such other related duties and responsibilities as assigned (1%).


The Construction Cost Accountant may be required to travel to project locations in other states within the contiguous United States. The frequency and length of such travel will vary, but could range from two weeks to over a year in duration, with periodic breaks. Requirements: (1) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, General Management, or related field; (2) 36 months of experience as a(n) Construction Cost Accountant, Project Accountant, Accountant, or related occupation; (3) Demonstrably excellent working knowledge of and proficiency in the use of the following computer software: (a) Viewpoint; (b) HCSS; and (c) Bluebeam; (4) Demonstrable ability to: (a) read construction blue prints/plans; (b) apply complex mathematical concepts to practical situations; and (c) resolve complex accounting problems; and (5) Must be willing to travel as required above.
