Job description
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a Container Coordinator to join our National TRU Programs team to support our Government customer in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “Q” Security Clearance.
The successful candidate will obtain qualification as Central Characterization Program (CCP) Container Coordinator and will coordinate container feedstock between the Host Site and CCP characterization activities. Responsible for maintaining the inventory utilizing several data bases. Inspects containers in accordance with CCP procedures prior to containers being introduced into CCP characterization processes. Maintains production reports and tracks the status of containers through the CCP characterization process. Participates in internal and external assessments as required. Assists the CCP Vendor Project Manager with other administrative and record keeping duties as required.
This position in located in Los Alamos, NM with the core hours of Monday-Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Non-Exempt Salary Grade (28-30)

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or
- Associate’s degree with four (4) years of related experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of experience is required.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Clearance.
- Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See
DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency using spreadsheets is preferred.
- Prior experience in a position requiring focus and attention to detail in a procedure driven work environment is a plus.
- Performing operations at a DOE nuclear facility is desired.
- Previous WIPP Project or CCP experience is a plus.
Starting salary $66,098 per year *
- Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
